My Story
I'm taking part in Moorfields Eye Charity's annual Eye to Eye 2026 walk!
I'll be joined on this walk by two of my best mates Jay and Nora - (we're walking the full half-marathon!).
I first found out about Retinitis Pigmentosa through Jay; we've been friends for 8 years now, and I'm doing this walk to raise money to help more people like him. Since being his friend, I have found out more about what it's like to live with eye conditions like RP, and all the work people do to help those with it.
For those that may not know, Retinitis Pigmentosa is the deterioration of the photo (light) receptors in your eyes, meaning that below certain levels of light, you are blind. It's also a degenerative disease where you can eventually go completely blind, and there is no cure yet.
Moorfields is a cause that is close to all our hearts.
Moorfields funds life-changing eye research to deepen our understanding of eye disease and help bring new treatments to patients faster than ever before. It's why they invest in innovative education programmes to help train the next generation of eye specialists.
They support staff, equipment and new ideas at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust to help patients across the country access world-class eye care. Ultimately, everything they do aims to make a difference to the lives of people with sight loss - because they and I believe that people's sight matters.
...
I know times are tough at the moment, so I understand donating to causes may be difficult for some people. But if you can spare even the smallest bit of money, we'd be very grateful.
Jay, Nora and I will be teaming up with lots of amazing people that day to take on the challenge - I can't wait to get my steps in! ;)
Every little helps in the fight against sight loss.
